I once had a relationship with Jesus

I know you think this is a religious post but I’m sorry to disappoint you,its not.
Jesus is a rather common name among the mexicans and this is a lame line taken from a lame comedian’s very lame routine basically making fun of the fact that mexicans get deported all the time.
Enjoy it..it made me giggle just a little bit.

I once had a relationship with Jesus but he got deported

George Carlin’s Views on Aging

Blogged under This and That by mimi on Tuesday 29 July 2008 at 1:03 am

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we’re kids? If you’re less than 10 years old, you’re so excited about aging that you think in fractions.
‘How old are you?’ ‘ I’m four and a half!’ You’re never thirty-six and a half. You’re four and a half, going on five! That’s the key.
You get into your teens, now they can’t hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead.
‘How old are you?’ ‘I’m gonna be 16!’ You could be 13, but hey, you’re gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life ! You become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony. YOU BECOME 21. YESSSS!!!
But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk! He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There’s no fun now, you’re Just a sour-dumpling. What’s wrong? What’s changed?
You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you’re PUSHING 40. Whoa! Put on the brakes, it’s all slipping away. Before you know it, you REACH 50 and your dreams are gone.
But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn’t think you would!
So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60.
You’ve built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it’s a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday!
You get into your 80’s and every day is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30; you REACH bedtime. And it doesn’t end there. Into the 90s, you start going backwards; ‘I Was JUST 92.’
Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. ‘I’m 100 and a half!’

All I want for my birthday is a nice pair of trainers

Blogged under This and That by mimi on Saturday 26 July 2008 at 6:30 pm

My birthday is just around the corner *cough* September 13 *cough* and I already know what I want…a nice comfy pair of Women’s Puma Trainers.I’m in total lust with the Puma “Driftcat” trainers and the Puma “sokuto” trainers.I’ll probably end up getting both pairs because they are both way too cute to pass up.

A friend of mine recommended that I try ShopWiki UK,the premier shopping search engine for the best comparison shopping and boy was she right.I searched through their database for Women’s Trainers and I was blown away by the number of stores they have in their database.I mean, these guys have literally done all the research for me and all I have to do is decide which store I am comfortable shopping from! How totally cool is that?

If you want to save time while shopping and still get a good deal, you might want to hit up the good folks over at ShopWiki. Now if you’ll excuse me,I need to go email a few links to a few pals of mine..gotta spread the word about my ideal gifts this year.

My Special List

Blogged under This and That by mimi on Thursday 24 July 2008 at 1:24 am

I have a list of people I know all written in a book and every now and then I go and take a look.
That is when I realise these name…they are a part, not of the book they are written in but taken from the heart.
For each name stands for someone who has crossed my path sometime and in that meeting they have become the reason and the rhyme.
Although it sounds fantastic for me to make this claim,I really am composed of each remembered name.
Although you are aware of any special link, just knowing you has shaped my life more than you could think. So please dont take my greeting as just a mere routine, your name was not ever forgotten in between.
For when I send a greeting that is addressed to you,it is because you’re on the list of people I am indebted to.
So whether I have known you for many days or few in some ways you have a part in shaping things I do.
I am but a sum of many people I’ve met.You are a friend I would prefer never to forget.
Thank you for being my friend.

Special Olympics

Blogged under This and That by mimi on Tuesday 22 July 2008 at 1:33 am

At the Seattle Special Olympics, nine contestants, all physically or mentally disabled, assembled at the starting line for the 100-yard dash.
At the gun, they all started out, not exactly in a dash, but with a relish to run the race to the finish and win. All, that is, except one little boy who stumbled on the asphalt, tumbled over a couple of times, and began to cry. The other eight heard the boy cry. They slowed down and looked back. Then they all turned around and went back…every one of them. One girl with Down’s Syndrome bent down and kissed him and said, “This will make it better.” Then all nine linked arms and walked together
to the finish line. Everyone in the stadium stood, the cheering went on for several minutes. People who were there are still telling the story…
Why? Because deep down we know this one thing. What matters in this life is more than winning for ourselves. What matters in this life is helping others win, even if it means slowing down and changing our course.

Blessings

Avoyaging ship was wrecked during a storm at sea and only two of the men on it were able to swim to a small, desert like island. The two survivors, not knowing what else to do, agree that they had no other recourse but to pray to God. However, to find out whose prayer was more powerful, they agreed to divide the territory between them and stay on opposite sides of the island.

The first thing the first man prayed for was food. The next morning, the first man saw a fruit-bearing tree on his side of the land, and he was able to eat its fruit.

The other man’s parcel of land remained barren. After a week, the first man was lonely and he decided to pray for a wife. The next day, another ship was wrecked, and the only survivor was a woman who swam to his side of the land.

On the other side of the island, there was nothing. Soon the first man prayed for a house, clothes, more food. The next day, like magic, all of these were given to him.

However, the second man still had nothing.

Finally, the first man prayed for a ship, so that his wife and he could leave the island. In the morning, he found a ship docked at his side of the island.

The first man boarded the ship with his wife and decided to leave the second man on the island.
He considered the other man unworthy to receive God’s blessings, since none of his prayers had been answered. As the ship was about to leave, the first man heard a voice from Heaven booming,

‘Why are you leaving your companion on the island?’

‘My blessings are mine alone, since I was the one who prayed for them,’ the first man answered.
‘His prayers were all unanswered, and so he does not deserve anything.’

‘You are mistaken!’ the voice rebuked him.
‘He had only one prayer, which I answered.
If not for that, you would not have received any of my blessings.’
‘Tell me,’ the first man asked the voice,
‘what did he pray for that I should owe him anything?’
‘He prayed that all your prayers be answered.’

For all we know, our blessings are not the fruits of our prayers alone, but those of another praying for us. When Jesus died on the cross he was thinking of you!

Get smart movie ticket

A good friend of mine and I were discussing ways to save money this morning and I suggested switching to a scooter instead of driving a car.I googled scooters trying to see what the latest “hottest” scooter model is and I ended up on some site with a subway/Get Smart instant win banner.Long story short,I clicked on the banner and played their instant win and what do you know?I won 2 free bags of chips and a free movie ticket to see Get Smart.

I’ve already seen Get Smart…I watched it because the Rock aka Dwayne Johnson is in it and well,he’s handsome!Plus its a goofy, truly funny movie — the perfect way to relax and de-stress after a rather hectic work week.Once my ticket gets here,I’ll definitely go see the movie again. Thanks subway.
