Mac users put your poker faces on

Blogged under This and That by mimi on Monday 14 July 2008 at 9:00 am

I don’t have a poker face.
I can’t recall the last poker tournament I played in where I didn’t come in last.
I don’t know when I have a good hand,when to fold,when to call.
I don’t even know what all those terms really mean.
All I know is the word poker loosely translated means fun…in my dictionary at least.
Fun and winning money if,unlike me,you truly know what you’re doing.
Which is why I got a little excited when I came across Mac Poker.

If you’re a mac user who enjoys online poker and other casino games, you are going to want to bookmark Mac Poker because it will save you time–literally and as we all know, time is money.
What I like about Mac Poker is the fact that the website is very easy to navigate. The exclusive bonuses are upfront and center that way you don’t have to go digging around for them.
Looking for software?Worried about the legalities of playing online?Worried about spyware?Mac Poker addresses these issues in such great and impressive detail.

If you’re as clueless about poker as myself,Mac Poker has got you covered. They have an extensive resources library of poker rules, tips, deals and articles. And if that isn’t enough information for you,be sure to check out their recommended section for trusted reputable places to play online.

While I do appreciate the wealth of information on Mac Poker,I also have to gripe about the fact that the news has not been updated since October 24,2007.This is now July 2008..surely something has happened in the online poker world.Other than that,on a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being the best,I give Mac Poker a solid 4.5.This is definitely one site every mac online poker player should bookmark.

Family

Blogged under This and That by mimi on Sunday 13 July 2008 at 1:06 am

I ran into a stranger as he passed by,

‘Oh excuse me please’ was my reply.

He said, ‘Please excuse me too;

I wasn’t watching for you.’

We were very polite, this stranger and I.

We went on our way and we said goodbye.

But at home a different story is told,

How we treat our loved ones, young and old..

Later that day, cooking the evening meal,

My son stood beside me very still.

When I turned, I nearly knocked him down.

‘Move out of the way,’ I said with a frown.

He walked away, his little heart broken.

I didn’t realize how harshly I’d spoken.

While I lay awake in bed, God’s still small voice came to me and said,

‘While dealing with a stranger,

common courtesy you use,

but the family you love, you seem to abuse.

Go and look on the kitchen floor,

You’ll find some flowers there by the door.

Those are the flowers he brought for you.

He picked them himself: pink, yellow and blue.

He stood very quietly not to spoil the surprise,

you never saw the tears that filled his little eyes.’

By this time, I felt very small,

And now my tears began to fall.

I quietly went and knelt by his bed;

‘Wake up, little one, wake up,’ I said.

‘Are these the flowers you picked for me?’

He smiled, ‘I found ‘em, out by the tree.

I picked ‘em because they’re pretty like you.

I knew you’d like ‘em, especially the blue.’

I said, ‘Son, I’m very sorry for the way I acted today;

I shouldn’t have yelled at you that way.’

He said, ‘Oh, Mom, that’s okay.

I love you anyway.’

I said, ‘Son, I love you too,

and I do like the flowers, especially the blue.’

FAMILY

Are you aware that if we died tomorrow, the company

that we are working for could easily replace us in

a matter of days.

But the family we left behind will feel the loss

for the rest of their lives.

And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more

into work than into our own family,

an unwise investment indeed,

don’t you think?

How to stay young

1. Throw out non-essential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay ‘them.’
2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.
3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever, even ham radio. Never let the brain idle. ‘An idle mind is the devil’s workshop.’
4. Enjoy the simple things.
5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.
6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.
7. Surround yourself with what you love , whether it’s family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.
8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.
9. Don’t take guilt t rips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.
10. Tell the people you love that you love them , at every opportunity.
AND ALWAYS REMEMBER :
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

I believe in saving for a sunny day
I believe that being organized is highly overrated….until I can’t find my car keys
Played correctly,I believe that checkers can be a contact sport
I believe that the job of a best friend is to make you laugh until you hiccup (or wet your pants)
I believe in singing in the shower..so loud the neighbors complain
I believe a splash of color and a dash of pattern beat a diet anyday
I believe in letting myself shine

Things to ponder

Blogged under This and That by mimi on Friday 4 July 2008 at 8:37 pm

-You are more likely to get struck by lightning than win the lottery, but more people try to win the lottery than get stuck by lightning, wonder why when the odds are better.

-Can god create a rock he can’t lift?

-3 mice ran up the clock, the clock struck one, what happened to the other two? They escaped with minor injuries?

-Do rock stars get free copies of there music?

-If you seen a ufo would you tell anyone?

-Have you ever told anyone you pee’d on your shoe’s by accident?

-How many licks does it really take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?

-Good things come to those who wait, wait for what?

-If flying is so safe, why do they call the airport the terminal?

-How come we choose from just two people to run for president and 50 for Miss America?

-Isn’t having a smoking section in a restaurant like having a peeing section in a swimming pool?

-Why is it that most nudists are people you don’t want to see naked?

Letting go…

Blogged under This and That by mimi on Tuesday 1 July 2008 at 4:19 pm

I’m a hoarder.
Its a bad habit I picked up from somewhere..don’t know where but I always hold onto stuff and I hardly throw anything away unless I absolutely, totally must get rid of it.
Naturally this causes storage issues and disorganization issues which is why for the month of July
I’m going to force myself to let go…literally.
I’m going to force myself to adopt a “touch it once” policy where I only touch a piece of paper once and then throw it away or file it away.
That reminds me,I need to pick up some folders and develop some kind of filing system because I spend way too much time digging through boxes and piles of paper for important documents!
