The Silent Treatment

Blogged under Jokes by mimi on Saturday 15 November 2008 at 2:48 am

A man and his wife were having some problems at home and were giving each
other the silent treatment. Suddenly, the man realized that the next day,
he would need his wife to wake him at 5:00 AM for an early morning business flight.

Not wanting to be the first to break the silence (and LOSE), he wrote on a piece of paper,
“Please wake me at 5:00 AM.” He left it where he knew she would find it.
The next morning, the man woke up, only to discover it was 9:00 AM
and he had missed his flight. Furious, he was about to go and
see why his wife hadn’t wakened him, when he noticed a piece of paper by
the bed. The paper said, “It is 5:00 AM. Wake up.”
Men are not equipped for these kinds of contests.

Wall Art Extraordinaire

The best part about moving is the chance to “personalise” your new space and make it more “you”,more “home”.This is something most people look forward to doing, apparently I’m not like most people because as I type this, its been almost a year since I moved into my apartment and my walls are still bare. The place has no personality at all and yes,it still quite doesn’t feel like home.So I figured, why not make decorating my next big priority…I’m not good at decorating and I dont have a huge budget to hire an overpriced interior designer but I do have an appreciation for wall art, always have, thats why I turned to my favorite search engine and began digging through various wall art websites until I found one very sweet gem of a website called walldecorandhomeaccents.com with magnificent and surprisingly affordable wall art decor.

canvas oil painting

I’ve always been a huge fan of canvas oil paintings, mainly because they remind me of my little brother,a very talented artist but also because I find them more personal. Its like the artist is talking directly to you.You can sense the artist’s mood and frame of mind just by looking at their canvas oil paintings.Plus,I, for some odd reason find them extremely comforting. One of my fave paintings is the painting above called River Flower. Its so simple and yet so beautiful.I just know its going to look great in my living room.Take a look around walldecorandhomeaccents.com and tell me what your fave painting is.

Position vs. Condition

“If you understand your position in life, you can change your condition in life”

There comes a time in every woman’s life when she has to take a close look at herself. Not at her circumstance, not at what she did, not how unfair life is, or at who made you do it. She has to just look at herself in all her glory and imperfection. Have you ever admired a woman who has been through changes in her life? Or have you made up in your mind that she is just messed up. Before you make this mistake, take a closer look. A woman who has endured the most unusual life is someone of wisdom, someone who has been chosen by God to go through things that have made her stronger.

Think of all the great women in the Bible: Mary Magdalene, Ruth and Naomi, the woman with an issue of blood, and Esther, to name a few. Mary was a prostitute, a very uneasy woman. But by the time Jesus was done with her, she was His closest follower. Esther was unfortunate in marrying an abusive man, but by the time God was done with her, she had married one of the wealthiest men in the land.

Women are so quick to beat the next one down instead of trying to hold her up. Before you wonder, ‘What’s up with her?’ ask yourself, ‘What’s up with me?’ That woman could be my mother, sister, aunt, in-law, stepmother, niece, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor, friend, or co-worker, etc. That woman could be ME.

Women are the carriers of life, not the channels of death. Let’s build and encourage each other, as did Ruth and Naomi.

Who does what?

A man and his wife were having an argument about who should brew the coffee each morning.

The wife said, “You should do it, because you get up first, and then we don’t have to wait as long to get our coffee.”

The husband said, ” You are in charge of cooking around here and you should do it, because that is your job, and I can just wait for my coffee.”

Wife replies, “No, you should do it, and besides, it is in the Bible that the man should do the coffee.”

Husband replies, “I can’t believe that, show me.”

So she fetched the Bible, and opened the New Testament and showed him at the top of several pages, that it indeed says……….”HEBREWS”

Creation

A man said to his wife one day, “I don’t know how you can be so stupid and so beautiful all at the same time.”

The wife responded, “Allow me to explain. God made me beautiful so you would be attracted to me;God made me stupid so I would be attracted to you!”

Renewal time and still no lamps

Blogged under This and That by mimi on Sunday 9 November 2008 at 1:58 am

This morning I woke up to an envelope stuck to my front door.Apparently I’ve been here for almost a year already (oh how fast time flies) and my leasing office sent me a reminder to extend my lease for another twelve months. The good news is if I renew my lease with them,my rent remains the same for an entire year plus I get a $100 gift card and my name gets entered into a drawing for a free month of rent.If on the other hand I decide not to renew my lease for a full 12 months, then I either have to move or go on a month to month lease which loosely translated means my rent increases by $35 and I get to pay an extra $150 per month for the convenience of having a month to month lease.

As I stood there processing all this information,it suddenly hit me,I’ve been here for nine months and I still don’t have lamps in my apartment!Seriously,I keep meaning to get lamps for my living room and for the bedroom but for some strange reason I never do.I know its written somewhere on my endless list of things to do,now all I have to do is actually push it to the top.

Since I love staying here,I’ve decided to renew my lease for another year and I’ll use the $100 gift card to pick up some nice table lamps. There are so many cute lamps and I’m having a tough time deciding which one to get but I’m sure whatever I get will go just fine with all my other furniture. And seeing as I spend a great deal of time reading, maybe I should also invest in at least one reading lamp.

Words

A husband read an article to his wife about how many words women use a day… 30,000 to a man’s 15,000.

The wife replied, “The reason has to be because we have to repeat everything to men…

The husband then turned to his wife and asked, “What?”
