spanish and english

Lately I’m noticing this more and more everywhere I go….
Signs or instructions written in both English and Spanish.
This makes me angry.
Why is it everyone seems to be bending over backwards for the Mexicans and spanish speaking people in general?
When in Rome, you do what the Romans do.
When you decide to make the US your home, learn English.
Speak English.Read English.Write in English.Embrace the English language.
I’m not saying dont use spanish anymore but for crying out loud, get with the program, use English.
When people from other countries come to the US,they are expected to learn English,so how come the Mexicans are the exception to this rule?
This is getting so ridiculous.
A few years back I was on vacation in Florida and there was an entire section of Orlando that was full of spanish speaking people and not a single soul spoke a word of English!Needless to say I quickly checked out of my hotel and moved to another part of town because I don’t speak a word of spanish.
Sometimes I think I’m living in Mexico.

ebay yellow star

I’ve always been a huge fan of companies that think outside the box when it comes to marketing and ebay is pretty good at thinking out of the box.True, not all their ideas are original or successful every single time but I like how they appeal to the competitive nature of human beings and our constant need for praise with this computer generated email.I love how they play on the fact that we all love having our egos pampered.Boy do they heap on the flattery and they go overboard with the butt kissing but I bet you this email will leave you feeling so good you’ll bid on stuff just to get that yellow star!

Freakishly super long bread

freakishly super long bread

I was shopping the other day when I came across this freakishly super long bread.
The slices are super tiny but there are like a gazillion of them.
Okay, maybe not quite a gazillion but you get what I mean.
I suppose this would be perfect for picnics and family get togethers with a ton of hungry people.
Anyway, what are your thoughts on this bread?
This was the first time I had ever seen such long bread.

Kids create a mess

Fact of life – Kids create a mess.
If you’ve got kids this is a very familiar sight.
Some days I’m just so tempted not to clean up because I know no matter how much I clean and organise the living room, its just going to go back to looking like this in 2 seconds flat.
Strangely there is something calming about this mess…it means there is life in the house, does that make sense?I’d rather have a house that looks lived in than one thats spotless.

Thanks for the free calendar

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

Some company called Star Motorcycles was nice enough to send me a free calendar and since I absolutely detest paying for calendars I was thrilled! But I’m not blogging about the calendar because it was free,I’m blogging about it because it featured some of the “sickest” motorcycles I have ever seen! These people at Star Motorcycles really know their stuff! Each month featured a different bike and just when I thought okay they cant possibly top that, they outdid themselves with the next month’s featured bike.I had a tough time deciding what bike was the best. This calendar is a must have for anyone who loves motorcycles.
By the way,the picture is just a shot of the calendar cover, its not appealing at all but whats inside will blow you away.Kudos to Star Motorcycles for such an awesome calendar.

This sign means home

Georgia the peach state

This is possibly my favorite sign in the entire world.
I love seeing that blue sign with those simple words: “We’re Glad Georgia’s On Your Mind”
It means home.
I love taking road trips and seeing new places and meeting new people but its all nothing compared to the feeling I get whenever I approach the state line and I see that sign.
The last time I left the state,I realised I’m always anxious and nervous while on the road until the minute I spot that Georgia sign at the state line, then my whole body relaxes.
Pretty weird, right? But thats what that sign does to me.
I always, always look forward to seeing it because I know once I see it,my home,my little private space in the world awaits me on the other side of that sign. And thats a good feeling, afterall, there really is no place like home!
