Car trouble be gone already!

Blogged under This and That by mimi on Sunday 2 November 2008 at 1:20 pm

Someday when the stars are aligned just right,I am going to win myself a brand new car so I don’t have to deal with car issues and flakey mechanics who overcharge, don’t know what they are doing and basically end up not fixing anything.I say this because last week,I learned just how costly auto repair really is.

Last year I bought a mitsubishi Galant that had problem after problem after problem. That car squeaked worse than a mouse and bolts went missing from it every single day.To this day I still can’t figure out where all the bolts went, all I know is I spent a small fortune on bolts every single week.Maybe the galant swallowed them,we’ll never know. When the galant was totalled in a wreck in May,I got an Infiniti J30.Nothing fancy, just basic enough to get me from point A to point B.For a while, everything was good then it started cutting off.

Being mechanically challenged,I had no clue what was wrong.I went to a mechanic who did a tune up and replaced a few parts (I’ve forgotten the name of the parts) claiming that would fix the issue.Instead, the issue worsened and he seemed to create new problems for me…my car started smoking and made this really awful noise each time I turned the wheel. To say all this frustrated me would be the understatement of the year.I decided to take the car to yet another mechanic to diagnose exactly what the issue was.He thoroughly checked out the car and he found that my timing was off and I would need a timing belt replacement before he could do anything. He also told me he’d need to do something about the oil pressure and that I’d probably need an engine overhaul.I’ll spare you the total auto repair estimate he gave me because I don’t want to be responsible for any broken bones when you fall off your chair in shock.

Needless to say, after getting a quote from him,I decided it would be better to just buy another car instead of fixing the infiniti.I’m now the proud owner of a Kia Sephia that runs good, doesn’t cut off or make weird noises and the best part is,its got just 103K miles on it,the AC and heat work great, the radio works (the radio in the infiniti didn’t work so this is a very big deal) and its paid off!!

Girls Vs Women

Blogged under This and That by mimi on Monday 13 October 2008 at 3:04 am

Girls leave their schedule wide-open and wait for a guy to call and make plans.
Grown women make their own plans and nicely tell the guy to get in where he fits in.

Girls want to control the man in their life.
Grown women know that if he’s truly hers, he doesn’t need controlling.

Girls check you for not calling them.
Grown women are too busy to realize you hadn’t.

Girls try to put a man ‘on lock’ by using sex.
Grown women know that it’s the sex of the mental kind that makes a man want to ‘lock’ you down.

Girls fake-moan, lay there and take the stabbing.
Grown women say, “Just stop”, if you have finished get up, get dressed and walk out.

Girls are afraid to be alone.
Grown women revel in it– using it as a time for personal growth.

Girls ignore the good guys.
Grown women ignore the bad guys.

Girls make you come.
Grown women make you come home.

Girls worry about not being pretty and/or good enough for their man.
Grown women know that they are pretty and/or good enough for any man.

Girls try to monopolize all their man’s time (i.e, don’t want him hanging with his friends).
Grown women realize that a lil’ bit of space makes the ‘together time’ even more special — and goes to kick it with her own friends!

Girls think a guy crying is weak.
Grown women offer their shoulder and a tissue.

Girls want to be spoiled and ‘tell’ their man so.
Grown women ’show’ him and make him comfortable enough to reciprocate w/o fear of losing his ‘manhood’.

Girls get hurt by one man and make all men pay for it.
Grown women know that that was just one man.

Girls fall in love, chase aimlessly after the object of their affection, ignoring all ’signs’.
Grown women know that sometimes the one you love, don’t always love you back — and move on, without bitterness.

Girls will read this and get an attitude.
Grown women will read this and pass it on to other Grown women !!

Today’s Women

A young couple got married and went on their honeymoon. When they got back, the bride immediately called her mother.

“Well,” said her mother, “How was the honeymoon?”

“Oh Mama,” she replied, “the honeymoon was wonderful. So romantic..”,then suddenly she burst out crying .. “But mama, as soon as we returned, Sam started using the most horrible language — things
I’d never heard before! I mean all these awful four letter words! You’ve got to take me home… PLEASE MAMA!”

“Sarah, Sarah!” her mother said, “calm down! You need to stay with your husband and work this out. Now, tell me, what could be so awful?

WHAT four letter words?”

“Please don’t make me tell you mama” wept the daughter, “I’m so embarrassed, they’re just too awful! COME GET ME PLEASE!!”

“Darling! Baby! You must tell me what has you so upset! Tell your mother these horrible four letter words!”

Sobbing the bride said, “Oh Mama… he used words like …. dust, wash, iron, cook…”

“I’ll pick you up in twenty minutes,” said the mother

How to stay young

1. Try everything twice. On Madam’s tombstone (of Whelan’s and Madam) she said she wanted this epitaph: Tried everything twice…loved it both times!

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down. (keep this in mind if you are one of those grouches;)

3. Keep learning:Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain get idle.”An idle mind is the devil’s workshop.”And the devil’s name is Alzheimer’s!

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath. And if you have a friend who makes you laugh, spend lots and lots of time with HIM/HER.

6. The tears happen:Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourselves.LIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love:Whether it’s family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever.Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health:If it is good, preserve it.If it is unstable, improve it.If it is beyond what you can improve, get help

9. Don’t take guilt trips.Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county, to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

11. Forgive those who made you cry. You might not get a second time.

And if you don’t send this to at least 4 people - who cares? But do share this with someone.

Celebrities just don’t get it…

I’m amazed at just how many celebrities don’t get that we’re not interested in their political views.

I personally don’t care if you’re “Mr.20 million dollars per picture”,keep your political views to yourself. If you do choose to get involved in politics, let it be to educate people at the process and how they can get involved.I don’t want to hear which candidate you’re endorsing and I certainly don’t want to hear you bashing the opposing candidate…I have people in my regular life doing enough of that thank you very much.So dear celebrities, just keep your mouths shut, enjoy your huge pay cheques and do what you’re (sometimes) good at which is entertaining us!

The USA election is getting ridiculous.
I have no clue where the candidates stand on most issues because well,no one is asking them the tough “real” questions about stuff and they are too busy dissing each other and dodging the few questions that are thrown their way.So now I’m just seated back watching this circus unfold.
And if you’re like me,you’re seated back too watching and praying that November gets here early so this madness can be over with.Until november gets here, here’s something I found while reading some random blog online…

Today is my birthday and wow,its been a wild crazy year.
Alot of stuff has gone down..literally and otherwise and I have had to battle some major demons and I’m scarred but I’m still standing and at the end of the day thats all that matters.
I’m excited about this birthday because for the first time in a long time I can truly say I am happy.
I’m in a good place emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually.
I can’t wait for the surprises life has in store for me for my next year here but until then I’m going to live it up!
